The foundation of the business. We indigenously developed processes for chlorinated inorganics — thionyl chloride (SOCl2), sulphur dichloride (SCl2) and sulphur monochloride (S2Cl2).
Producing our own thionyl chloride is what makes everything downstream commercially viable and gives customers supply security that a purchased-reagent producer cannot match.
Conversion of carboxylic acids to the corresponding acid chlorides. This is the single largest part of our catalogue, covering short-chain aliphatics (butyryl, isobutyryl, valeroyl, pivaloyl), fatty chains (octanoyl, decanoyl, lauroyl, cocoyl), branched chains (2-ethylhexanoyl, isononanoyl, neodecanoyl) and aromatics (nitrobenzoyl, toluoyl, trimethylbenzoyl, terephthaloyl, isophthaloyl).
Conversion of alcohols to alkyl chlorides and chlorinated ethers — n-octyl chloride, 2-methoxyethyl chloride, 2-propoxyethyl chloride, diethylene glycol dichloride and triethylene glycol dichloride.
These feed herbicides such as acetochlor and pretilachlor, and crown-ether chemistry.
Aromatic acylation and alkylation, used to build specialty aromatic intermediates where the acid chloride itself is the acylating agent.
Drawing on the same sulphur-handling competency as our inorganic chlorides, for intermediates requiring sulfonic acid functionality.
Downstream conversion of acid chlorides to amides where customers prefer to buy the amide rather than run the step themselves.
Thionyl chloride is the reagent that converts acids to acid chlorides and alcohols to alkyl chlorides. If you buy it, your cost, quality and continuity are someone else’s decision.
